Francisco J. Galarte is an Assistant Professor of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Arizona where he teaches courses in Chicanx/Latinx Studies and transgender studies. His most recent articles have appeared in publications including Aztlan: Journal of Chicano Studies, Chicana/Latina Studies Journal and TSQ: Transgender Studies QuarterlyHe is currently working on a book manuscript entitled, Brown Trans*Figurations: Rethinking Race, Gender and Sexuality in Chicanx and Latinx Studies which proposes an analytic framework that conjoins trans* theories of embodiment and Latinx/Chicanx theories of racialization for examining gender violence, pleasure, sexual excess and desire. He is a member of the Transgender Studies Initiative (TSI) at the University of Arizona, a collective of faculty that is the first of its kind in the world, that brings together scholars in Transgender Studies from various disciplinary backgrounds. He is the incoming General Co-Editor of TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, published by Duke University Press.
