About Mel Ferrara

Mel Ferrara is a PhD candidate in Gender and Women’s Studies with a minor in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory. They received their BA in Gender and Sexuality Studies and Philosophy/Political Thought from Muhlenberg College in 2015 and their MA in Gender and Women’s Studies from University of Arizona in 2017.

Mel is a 2015 University Fellow and a 2016 Point Foundation Scholar. Their community advocacy includes working with healthcare providers on improving access and care for LGBTQIA+ patients. Mel also does work on educational policy and training for staff at K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.

Their research interests include trans and intersex studies, feminist science and technology studies, and animal studies, as well as post/anti-colonial methodologies and critical pedagogies.
