About Ruben Zecena
Ruben Zecena is a second year PhD Student in Gender and Women’s Studies with a graduate minor in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University in English and Women’s Studies. A formerly undocumented queer migrant, his research investigates the affective dimensions of U.S. immigration control with specific attention to sexuality and race. He has published in Border-Lines: Journal of the Latino Research Center at the University of Nevada (2016) and has forthcoming work in the edited collection, Queer Adolescent Literature as Complement to the English Language Arts Curriculum (2018). His research interests include: Queer of Color Critique, Chican@/Latin@ Studies, Affect Theory, Women of Color Feminisms, Queer Migrations, and Cultural Studies.
